A virtual reality experience recreating an 18th-century Omani house from the abandoned village of Al Hamra, Oman.

CONTEXT

Built for the Cultural Heritage Digitization project and conference organized at the American University of Beirut, in cooperation with Technische Hochschule Brandenburg and Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. Users explore the traditional architecture and hospitable customs of a place that is increasingly difficult to access.

APPROACH

The experience combines photographic scanning with physical navigation. Ghostly characters in a 2D comic book style guide visitors through traditional rituals.
